Commander’s Comments

By: Capt Thomas Vineer. CAP. Commander B-CC.

Well another quarter has gone by and we have accomplished much. We were involved in a missing aircraft mission in Cumberland. The B-CC ground team worked hard on that mission for nearly two days with little sleep. I would encourage all cadets to get involved in search and rescue, the really rewarding part of CAP. There was also GTM 2 flight line training this past quarter. We had several officers take UCC and SLS classes, so you can see that the officers have to train too. The B-CC Color Guard has won the Maryland Wing Competition and is going to Fort Pickett in April for the regional competition. Let’s wish them luck.

Some of the upcoming events are the Triple Play Weekend (date TBA); the West Virginia SAREX (April 18-20); model rocketry weekend (date TBA) which includes a fun stay at the Cherry Hill National Guard Base. On April 5th, we will the start of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall washing which will continue on the first Saturday of the every month thru November. The Andrews AFB Open House is coming up and we want to make sure that we support that. I would also like the cadets as well as the senior members and parents to keep their eyes open for community service opportunities. Nothing gives CAP more exposure than working with the community.

In closing, I want to thank all the parents for their support throughout the year. I also want to thank the cadets for their hard work and dedication. Lastly, I want to thank the senior members for all the support you give me, without which the squadron wouldn’t be the great squadron that it is. Let’s all work hard and have another great quarter.
